ILAN LAEL FOUNDATION

James Hubbell and his dear wife Anne, started Ilan Lael Foundation decades ago as a way for artists and society to meet. I met James building schools for kindergartners in Baja Mexico. This changed my life and showed me how to build with various sculptural building methods. Since then James invited me to work together on numerous projects. Now in 2019, we finished the indoor/outdoor stone room at the Ilan Lael Center.

Now that James and his eldest son Drew, an architect, teamed up in Hubbell and Hubbell architecture firm, many strawbale and earth friendly properties have been built in the San Diego area. They are building artful, heartful and fireproof structures integrated into nature as we see below.

To James, Anne, the Ilan Lael team and all of the fine craftsman who worked on this center together, my sincere joy and appreciation working with you all! With this example there is hope for an artful, safe and beautiful future.
